OBL & CATH LAB CONSTRUCTION

An OBL is not a medical office with a bigger room in it. The procedure suite carries a fixed imaging system, the power and cooling that system needs, lead in the walls, and a recovery zone that has to hold patients coming off sedation. Get those four things wrong at lease signing and you are paying rent while the drawings get redone. We build office-based labs and cath labs across Greater Houston. Construction starts at $90/SF in shell space and $75/SF in second-generation medical space.

01 SCOPE

Scope of Work

Structural and architectural design for procedure rooms with 10+ ft clear ceiling height.

Electrical infrastructure including 480V three-phase service and 100-150 kVA transformers.

Recovery bays and medical gas piping systems for safe and efficient patient care.

Compliance with Texas DSHS radiation registration and TMB office-based anesthesia.

REGISTRATION AND PERMITTING

An OBL in Texas operates under the physician’s license through the Texas Medical Board, so it does not carry an HHSC facility license the way an ASC does. Radiation-producing equipment is registered with Texas DSHS, and the physicist’s survey has to be in hand before you scan a patient. Fire and building permits run through the city or county with jurisdiction. Design, engineering, permitting and construction come from us under one agreement, with our own crews doing the work.
